Integrative Veterinary Medicine

Integrative medicine uses the best practices of Chinese alternative therapies with the best practices of mainstream Western medical veterinary practice. Veterinary acupuncture, herbs and food therapy enhances the positive attributes of Western medical techniques, like emergency medicine and critical care, advanced dental and surgical methods and sophisticated diagnostic tools. Integrative vets deeply understand the importance of vaccinations but are more likely to evaluate a pet’s vaccine needs based on exposure and lifestyle in order to tailor vaccinations based on their specific needs possibly consider titers already existing in the bloodstream of your pet.

2nd Opinions and Alternative Treatments

Did you take your pet for a visit recently and would like to speak with another veterinarian about their health or diagnosis? Dr. Bernie is experienced and qualified to offer you and your pet a second opinion about their health, diagnosis, or treatment plan. Not all veterinarians practice medicine in the same way, and maybe you would like to discuss an alternative medication or would like to hear other treatment options for your pet. There are many benefits to getting a second opinion, including the peace of mind that you have the best diagnosis and treatment plan for your pet.  Second opinions: chronic illnesses, terminal illnesses, cancer, behavior, nutrition, other options possible, etc.

Life stage Counseling

Coping with illness or impending loss of a pet is one of the most difficult experiences a pet owner will face. Whether your furry friend is approaching their golden years or has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, it’s important to calmly navigate through the end-of-life experience and minimize any discomfort or distress. Pet wellness and Lifestyle Counseling – nutrition, preventives, addressing possible illnesses
before they arise. As your pet’s health declines, you may elect to care for your pet at home—with the supervision of a caring veterinarian—or you may decide to end his suffering with euthanasia. Whatever course you choose, you’re not alone—Dr. Bernie is here to help to support any decision that you make.

In summary, TCVM – Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are used to treat chronic veterinary medical issues in the fields of Behavior, Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, and Geriatric conditions.
